Lockdown help

It is crucial for your overall health as well as your joints, muscles and bones that you move around and look after yourself, even in lockdown.  Try different ways to motivate yourself, perhaps by setting yourself a time each day for your exercise or by giving yourself goals to reach.

There is a range of websites with advice, information and exercise programmes, many for specific parts of the body.

Below are some links to sites which we hope you will find useful. Remember that movement or exercise may be uncomfortable when you start but usually gets easier once you’ve started.

Keep moving – and lower your pain

The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has put together information, advice and a range of exercises to help you through these unusual times. These are specific for different parts of your body.

Arthritis Action have put together some chair based exercises to help you stay active.  They can be found here.  There is also a self-management course here.

The Mental Health Foundation has a special section on how to look after yourself during the covid-19 outbreak, here.

Breathworks has a free course for managing anxiety during this time.

Headspace, a mindfulness app, has a new section called “Weathering the storm”.  You can find this here.

In Crowborough, Dunamis Therapy Hub are offering free support to local people who are over 70 or isolating and vulnerable and some healthcare workers.  You can see more details here.
