We hope that this will provide you with an understanding of what to expect and what procedures to follow when you attend your appointment.
During the initial stages of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic our services were altered in line with national guidance and government advice. Due to changes in this advice and with an easing of these restrictions regarding lockdown and attending appointments we have begun to re-open our MSK services to patients.
The majority of our appointments will continue to be a telephone or virtual consultation initially. After this first appointment, and in discussion with your clinician, a decision will then be made with you as to the next course of action.
Can you still diagnose me via virtual consultations?
Absolutely, your clinician will ask you lots of questions about your symptoms, for example, What provokes them and calms them down, how they effect you day to day and what being better looks like to you? This will help them to form a diagnosis. They may also send you for scans or investigations to help make a diagnosis.
How will you treat me via a virtual consultation?
Our clinicians may offer you advice or education to help you manage your condition and/or give you exercises to complete. These can be sent or emailed to you after the consultation. They may also signpost you to other services that can help you with your condition.
Are there any Face to Face appointments?
In some cases where there is a clear clinical need, you may be invited into one of our clinics but they are operating differently to normal. Please click here to see the video and guide to give you an understanding of what to expect at your appointment.
When will things get back to normal?
At this stage we don’t quite know what our new normal will look like long term, however we continue to be guided by government advice and will keep you informed of any changes to our service.
What are the benefits of virtual appointments?
We can provide the same high standard of care without disrupting your daily routine. Just think, no need to worry about travel time, parking or public transport. We can support you from the comfort of your own home or work.
What do I need for virtual appointments?
For phone appointments all you need is phone, mobile or landline. For video appointments, a smart phone, tablet, laptop or PC with a camera. You will just click on the link we send and it will open, extra software is not needed.
